OUGD402 - Studio Brief 1 Sonos Logo

I came across the new Sonos Logo as it was all over social media, the reason being it pulses like a speaker when you scroll the mouse. I thought this was really innovative design, and its definitely caused a stir within the design community.

During my short time at Leeds College of Art, I've started to notice typefaces that I have been working with all around Leeds. I had a big project based around Futura at the start of the year and it keeps popping up everywhere - or typefaces that are very similar. Here are some examples that I have seen:

OUGD402 - Studio Brief 2 Self Branding initial thoughts

For studio brief 2 we have been asked to design and develop branding for ourselves that communicates and promotes me as an individual. I feel like I have changed in my design process a lot since beginning university, as my work has developed into more of a vector style. In my previous years at college I would work a lot with images and create montages, but now I have developed more into creating simplistic and effective vector graphics. I think that this should be my main consideration for this brief, even though the deadline is a few months away. Illustrator is where I feel most comfortable as a designer and it's the software that I go to first - depending on the brief. 
I feel that creating a logo with my initials is going to be quite difficult, C and W aren't letters that naturally fit well together, so I will have to think of effective ways that I could do this, or think of a different idea all together.
I like the idea of foil printing, though I'm not sure how that would work with my vector designs. I will have to develop my ideas over the next few months for this brief and see where it goes. I am hoping to create my own logo, business card, colour scheme, chose a body and display typeface, have my own grid and possibly more. 
I am excited to start this brief, I haven't had the chance to focus on myself before in terms of design, so it's a nice change for me.

OUGD402 Studio Brief 1 Re-Mix Exhibition - Leeds College of Art

Today I found an exhibition in the Leeds College of Art Blenheim Walk Mosaic Cafe called Re-mix. The exhibition was all about music, and the way music has changed to see whether it has just been copied from those who came before. There were some really interesting images and interactive parts of the exhibition. My favourite part was the comparison of lyrics that were very similar from songs that are quite old and then songs that have just been released.
