I began by looking at my previous logo from last year in the hopes of developing it:
I still like the minimal, striking approach I've taken, though I'm unsure about the layout and positioning of my name. I also now dislike all uppercase lettering as it looks too unfriendly.
I tried this layout with a lowercase font (Apercu Bold) to see if it was worth developing.
I much preferred the font here, but the layout still wasn't working. As my name has 9 letters, I decided to try a 3x3 grid and place the letters within it:
This worked much better and looks like a good, recognisable logo. The placement of the letters also doesn't spell out any other words which is great.
As the logo is black and white, I wanted to inject some colour into the rest of my branding.
I developed this design using some simple shapes on Illustrator. As this would turn out to be a business card, the colours wouldn't print and would likely turn out very dull. I decided develop this idea using other colours that were more suitable.
I didn't want to limit myself to one singular colour palette, so in the end I went with 3 separate designs:
As I'm intending to use these business cards this year, I've send them off to be professionally printed by Moo.
