OUGD402 - Studio Brief 1 Architecture comparision

As I was on my walk to university I noticed that there are two buildings facing each other that perfectly show the contrast between modernism and postmodernism architecture. I thought it was really interesting to be able to view this first hand, and on a route that I walk every day. 

Here is what I consider to be post modern architecture, it is very angular and colourful, and you can see that thought has gone into the aesthetic of the building as well as the function of it.

This building looks very brutalist to me, it is just one large rectangle with no design considerations what so ever, it has been built to serve a purpose and that is that. 

I found the juxtaposition of these buildings really interesting as the concepts of modernism and post modernism is something that is new to me, and seeing the evidence of these time periods in real life was quite exciting.
